How do I reinstall KennelSuite on a new or repaired computer?

Follow the instructions for your version. Your version is displayed when you click Help > About...

Versions 8 & 9 (KennelSuite 2006 & KennelSuite IX respectively)

1. Install KennelSuite from the "Download software" link below. These links connect to the most current version of KennelSuite 2006 and KennelSuite IX. Make sure you download the same version that you have a license for.

2. If you have Vista, right-click the setup file and select 'Run as Administrator'.

3. If you have Vista or Windows 7, you must not install into the Program Files folder. We recommend that you use the default location, i.e.,
   C:\Plane Software\KennelSuite 2006 or C:\Plane Software\KennelSuite IX, depending on your version.

4. Verify that it starts as an evaluation at the Enterprise level

5. If you've downloaded from one of the links below, you don't need to check for updates, since the download is always the most current. If you installed from a CD, you should click Tools -> Check for Updates and get any updates newer than your CD

6. Click File -> Restore from the main window to add your database from your last backup

7. Restart and verify that your data is correct.

8. If KennelSuite still thinks it is an evaluation (asks for your serial number or unlock code), manually copy the license file (ks8.lic or ks9.lic depending on your version) from your daily backup disk to the KennelSuite 2006 or KennelSuite IX data folder, depending on your version, and restart the program. You will also find your license credentials included in the original e-mail you received when you purchased.

If you have misplaced your program CD, you can download the equivalent. The following locations will always have the most current versions.

Version 7 (KennelSuite 7)

1. Install KennelSuite from the "Download software" link below. It's the most current version of KennelSuite 7. If you have Vista, right-click the setup file and select 'Run as Administrator'.

2. If you have Vista or Windows 7, you must not install into the Program Files folder. We recommend that you use the default location, i.e.,
   C:\Plane Software\KennelSuite

3. At the end of the installation process, you'll see a checkbox asking if you want to check for updates. You should remove the check because you have just downloaded and installed the final version of KennelSuite 7.

4. Verify that it starts as an evaluation at the Professional level

5. Click File -> Restore from the main window to add your database from your last daily backup

6. Restart and verify that your data is correct.

7. If KennelSuite still thinks it is an evaluation (asks for your unlock code), manually copy the license file (ps.lic) from the backup disk to the KennelSuite folder and restart the program. You will also find your license attached to the original e-mail you received when you purchased.

Version 5 & 6 (PlaneSuite)

1. Install Plane from your most recent program CD. Note: these versions are not supported on Vista or Windows 7.

2. Verify that it starts as an evaluation at the Professional level

3. Click Help -> Web Update and get any updates newer than your CD

4. Click File -> Restore from the main window to add your database from your last backup

5. Restart and verify that your data is correct.

6. Click Help -> License and note your 8-digit serial number.

7. Send the serial number to support@planesoftware.com. Please include a brief description of why you need a new license. We will return a code via e-mail.

8. In the window from step #6, select Register License and enter the Unlock Code we sent in response to your request. Click the Unlock button once and it should say "the software has been licensed." Click OK and then click Continue. Restart the program.

If you have misplaced your program CD, you can download the equivalent. The following location will always have the most current version of KennelSuite 5-6.

Versions 1-4 are no longer supported

If you are still using these old versions, you may continue. Your license is permanent. Be aware that we do not guarantee compatibility with the newer versions of Microsoft Windows that were released after these versions of KennelSuite were discontinued.
